This Indenture made on the 8th day of June AD 1819 Between Zachus Linton of 
Beaufort County State of North Carolina of the One part and Ester Linton of 
the Same place widowe of Luke Linton Dec'd of Said County of the other part 
witnesseth that whereof the Aforesaid Luke Linton in his lifetime was seized 
and possessed of certain Lands and plantation in Beaufort County aforesd which 
were conveyed by the said Luke to the Said Zachus and the Said Esther being 
disirous of Setling all disputes relateing to her Dower in Said Lands and 
plantation and to allott and Set off the Same now therefore it is hereby 
covananted and agreed between the parties aforesaid that Daniel Lewis Ruben 
Slade and Johnathan Swindle Shall be and they are hereby appointed 
commisssioners to allott and Lay off the metes and bounds the Dower of the 
Said Esther in the Lands and plantation of her Late husband as if no deeds of 
conveyance had pased from the Said Luke to the Said Zachus and the Said Zachus 
does hereby covanant and agree for himself his heirs Executors administrators 
and assigns to and with the Said Esther to assure unto her the Said Esther the 
Land or Share So allotted & set off by the Said commissions as her dower 
against the claims or demands of him the said Zachus his heirs and assigns. 
And it is hereby further Covananted and agreed, that in lieu of that part of 
the dweling houes & out house to which the Said Esther would be entitle the 
said Zachus promises and engages to build and compleate or before the 25 day 
of December next a comfortable framed Dweling house on the Land so allotted 
off to the Said Esther which Shall be & Remain for her use and behest as part 
of her Dower the Said house to be put on any part of the Land which the Said 
Esther Shall require and Shall be of the following dimentions vist. Eighteen 
feet long and Sixteen feet wide and have a comfortable chimney thereto and 
untill the Said house Shall be built and completed the Said Esther Shall have 
the Sole and exclusive use and ocupation of the Small room at the east end of 
the Dwelling house                  the Said Zachus and of the loft above 
above the Said            Sale or disposed provided he will take the same on 
as good tirms as she may be offerd by any other person.

September 1819 Beaufort County Court then the execution of the within contract 
between Zach Linton & Esther Linton was proved in court by the oath of WmW 
Rodman a subscribing Witness thereto. Let it be registerd.
