This Indenture made this first day of February AD one thousand eight hundred & 
twenty two between Thomas Allen of the County of Beaufort of the first part, 
William A Blount of the same place of the Second part and John Gray Blount of 
the same place of the third part.

Witnesseth That the said Thos Allen for and in consideration of One Dollar to 
him paid by the Said William Augustus Blount the receipt whereof he doth 
hereby acknowledge and thereof acquit discharge and release the said William 
his heirs Executors & administrators hath this day given granted bargained 
Sold assigned & conveyed and by these presents doth give grant bargain Sell 
assign and convey unto the said William his heirs and assigns forever all 
those Several tracts and parcels of Land lying and being in the county of 
Beaufort aforesaid herein perticularly mentioned and described to wit The Land 
and plantation purchased by the said Thomas Allen of John G Blount on which 
the Said Thomas now lives containing one hundred acres be the same more or 
less.  The tract or parcel of Land which the said Thomas purchased of Howell 
Downs containing one hundred acres be the same more or less.  All that part of 
the tract or parcel of Land which was conveyed to the said Thomas being part 
of a tract purchased by the said Thomas and J G Blount of Edmond Edwards.  To 
have and to hold the before mention and described tracts and parcels of Lands 
with appurtenances to him the said William his heirs and assigns forever.  In 
trust nevertheless and for the uses and purposes hereinafter mentioned 
covenanted and agreed.  Whereas the said John G Blount part of the third part 
has become surety for the said Thomas in Several notes obligations and 
assumpsits particulary Two notes or obligations to William Vines amounting to 
Seventy Eight Dollars 55/100 One not or obligation to Humphry Woods for fifty 
eight Dollars 75/100 one note to Thomas Ellison for Fifty two Dollars 50/100.  
and one obligation or note or assumpsit to William Blackledge or to John Bryan 
Guardian of P.M. Bryan for the Sum of Two hundred and forty Dollars 45/100  or 
thereabouts and whereas the said Thomas is desirous of Securing and Saving 
harmless the said John G. Blount of and from all loss damage costs charges 
payment for and on account of the same.

Now therefore it is hereby covenanted and agreed between the parties hereto 
that the said William Augustus Blount shall sell the before described and 
conveyed premises at public Auction for cash to the highest bidder after 
giving Twenty days public notice of said Sale as soon as the said John G 
Blount shall be any way molested, troubled, damaged or called upon for payment 
and Shall apply the proceeds of said Sale to pay and discharge the said notes 
obligations and assumpsits and all cost charges damages and payments made done 
or Suffered by the said John G Blount his heirs Executors administrators for 
or on account of said Notes obligations or assumpsits .  In Witness whereof 
the parties hereunto have set their hands and seals the date first above 
written.

Beaufort Co Co Please & Quarter Sessions Feby Term 1822—Then the Execution of 
the within Deed from Thomas Allen John G Blount & William A Blount to John G 
Blount was proved in court by the oath of William W. Rodman a Subscribing 
Witness thereto let it be Registered.
