Mason http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00016.html#0003873 February 13, 2019, 6:07 pm Written: 1812 Register of Deeds Office Beaufort County, NC 16 Feb 1810 Joseph & Ann HOOTEN, land of dec’d father Caleb HOOTEN to Thomas BOWEN of Beaufort Co., NC Bk. 9, p. 327 This indenture made this 16th day of February in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred & Ten between Joseph HOOTEN & Ann HOOTEN his wife of the one part and Thos. BOWEN of the other part & all of the county of Beaufort and State of North Carolina. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the Sum of One Hundred & Twenty five Dollars to us the said Joseph HOOTEN & wife in hand paid by Thos. BOWEN at or before the unsealing and delivery of these presents hath bargained and sold and by these presents dot brain sell issue off convey confirm assign and sett over unto the said Thos. BOWEN his Heirs, Executors, admirs. or assigns all he right title claim or Interest which we now have or may hereafter have to a certain tract of land which Fell to us by the Death of our Father Caleb HOOTEN, Senr. Dec’d lying in the county of Beaufort aforesaid on South Dividing Creek & whereon the said Caleb HOOTEN lived at the Time of his Decease. To have and to Hold the aforesaid claim or portion of Land with all and Singular the appurtenances and privileges thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said Thos. BOWEN, his Heirs, Exrs., Admr. and Assigns forever, and we the said Joseph HOOTEN and Ann his wife doth agree to Warrant and Forever Defend the aforesaid claim or portion which we now have or may hereafter have to the above mentioned land to the said Thomas BOWEN his Heirs, Exrs, Admrs. or assigns & from the clan or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In testimony, whereof we have hereunto set our Hands and Seals the day and year First above written. HOOTEN and Ann his wife to Thomas BOWEN, for a tract of Land was proved in Court by the oath of Thos. ELISSON, a witness thereto let it be Registered. Thos. SWAN, Clk. In pursuant to an order of Court to us directed from the County Court of Beaufort we have proceeded to privately examine Ann HOOTEN wife of Joseph HOOTEN relative to her free consent to the Signature of the within and who on examination says she signed the within Deed with her own free will & accord & without the Compulsion of her Husband.
