Beaufort County, NC - Deeds File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Gerry Seymour JAMES BUCK TO EDWARD LAUGHINGHOUSE Know all men by these presents that we James Buck & Sally his wife of the County of Beaufort & State of North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Shillings to us in hand paid by Edward Laughinghouse the receipt where of we do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained & sold & by these presents do give grant bargain sell & release & confirm unto the said Edward all these tracts and parcels of land which descended to the afsd Sally Buck, formerly Sally Morris as heir at law or one of the heirs at law of Elisha Morris decsd lying and being in the County of Beaufort afsd. To have and to hold to him the said Edward his heirs and assigns forever. And we the afsd James & Sally do here warrant to and with the afsd Edward that the Above bargained premises are free of all charges or incumbrances made or caused to be made by us. Term 1827 Beaufort Co. of Pleas and Qtr Sessions There was the within deed from James Buck & Sarah Buck his wife to Ed Laughinghouse was proved here in court by the oath of Saml Hawkins Esq a subscribing witness thereto & Sarah Buck the feme covert afsd came here into open court before us her said husband being separate and apart and acknowledged that she executed this deed voluntarily and of her own accord without fear or compulsion from her said husband.
