Beaufort County, NC - Deeds File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Carl Langford Deed Book 5, page 43 5 March 1779 This Indenture made this 5th day of March in the year of our Lord 1779 THOMAS WALLIS of the County of Beaufort and state of North Carolina, Bricklayer of the one part and THOMAS ELLISON of the County and state of a fore Said, Planter, of the other part. Witnesseth that the Said THOMAS WALLIS far the consideration of the sum of Two pounds current money of this state to him in hand paid by the Said THOMAS ELLISON before the ensealing and delivery of these present the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged and himself to be there with fully contented satisfied and paid have given granted, bargained and sold aliened enfeoffed conveyed aforesigned and set over unto the Said THOMAS ELLISON his heirs and aforesigns forever a Plantation or Tract of land containing 40 acres lying and being in the County aforSaid and on the East side of Long acre beginning at ROBERT WEST'S corner tree running down the ridge of Said acre to - end of the Beechy (Buchy)(Bushy) Island and across the end of Said Island to the Great Branch and along the Said Branch to JOSEPH DEVITES' corner tree on the back of the Beachy Island and from thence to the first station being part of a Tract or parcel of land he lately entered containing 300 acres the aforeSaid land known and called by the name of the Beachy Island. To have and to hold the aforeSaid land or Plantation bounded as aforeSaid unto the Said THOMAS ELLISON his heirs exec'ors and aforesigns forever which Said Land bounded as aforesaid the Said THOMAS WALLIS doth for himself his heirs and aforesigns, promise to warrant and defend the above promises to THOMAS ELLISON his heirs and aforesigns. In witness whereof the Said THOMAS WALLIS hath here unto set his hand and seal the day and date first written.
