Beaufort County, NC - Deeds File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Carl Langford Deed Book 5, page 42 7 Jun 1779 This Indenture made this seventh day of June in the year of our Lord 1779 between THOMAS WALLIS of the one part and JOHN BOWIN of the other part both of the County of Beaufort and province of North Carolina. Witnessed that the Said THOMAS WALLIS for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred pounds current money of this state to him the Said THOMAS WALLIS in hand paid at or before the ensealing of these present the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the Said THOMAS WALLIS have granted bargained and sold unto the Said JOHN BOWIN his heirs executor sand a signs all that Plantation tract or parcel of land lying and being in Beaufort County of said beginning at a poplar THOMAS Ellison s corner lying in a place known by the name of Long Acre running South 12 West 154 poles to a pine, thence South 45 East 160 poles to a pine near the Pocogin, thence North 12 East 254 poles to a gum, thence North 45 West 100 poles to a pine upon the Beach Ridge, Ellison s live, then with Said line to the first station containing by estimation 200 acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the Said Plantation or Parcel of Land with the appurtenances there unto belonging unto the Said JOHN BOWIN his heirs and a fore signs to the only proper use benefit and be proof of the Said JOHN BOWIN forever and THOMAS WALLIS his heirs exec ors and adm rs shall and will defend the Said Land and Premises to the Said JOHN BOWIN his heirs and a fore signs against the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness where of the Said THOMAS WALLIS hath here unto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.
