All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Kathy Wilde wildekat@hotmail.com November 13, 2005, 11:47 pm Written: September 17, 1811 Recorded: March 1811 State of North Carolina Beaufort County William Orrell Esq. appeared before me Edwd [Quin] Esq. one of the Justices of the Peace, for the County aforesaid, and made Oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God, that some time during the lives of Richard Blackledge and Grissom Floyd when some dificulty had arisen relative to the boundaries of their Lands on Blounts Creek Vizt the land which is described as Surveyed before and the lands now owned by Wm Blackledge or Everard Hall Esqr. he was called in and Impowered by Each to make the line of demarkation between them so as to prevent further disputes between them, — In conformity to their Mutual wishes, he the said William Orrell, did proceed to fix the boundaries for each the said Grissom Floyd c[l]aiming to the Southwards or beyond the branch emptying into the Pasture creek, and Blackledge claiming on, or beyond, on the other side of said creek or branch. To do to each as much Justice as possible, he the said William Orrell — Began the bounds of the Dupee or Floyd lands at the point commonly Called the Pasture point the Spot where the Survey began by Miles Chauncey for Mr Floy[d] & Jo B Hinton on the 21st day of febry 1811 and runing the lines pointed out by the sd Orrell, all the way to the mouth of the said pasture Creek, as described in the survey that day made which survey so far as from the beginning to the mouth of the said Creek was made conformable to direction that the said Orrell, that day gave which line, all the way, he the said Orrell doth Verily believe to be correct or nearly so for that Land Vizt the Floyd or dupea lands — Surveyed that day abovementioned, the lines as that day run gave perfect satisfaction, or so nearly so that when so pointed Out, at the request above alluded to, that he the said Orrell believed, no more disputes, after that demarkation took place, between the said Richard Blackledge and Grissom Floyd or if any such took place, he knew of none for both Blackledge & Floyd, after that, confined themselves to each Others side of the said line, and there contented themselves to work since which time no dispute has arisen, between the Owners of the lands, afsd., that he has known of, but that he believes all parties have been contented with the said line which line as run by said Miles Chauncey for Wesley Floyd and JB Hinton, Was as nearly or quite correct as pointed Out formerly to the Said Grissom Floyd & Blackledge he the said Orrell being with them & pointing out the line on the way so as to confine Each on his Own side of the Branch afsd which line the said Orrell thinks the [e] quitable boundary line, and further the said William Orrell deposeth & Saith that the begining that day Started from, Viz (by Miles Chauncey) is to the best of his recollection, the spot or nearly so, which James Brooks allways claimed and contended as the Pasture point begining of the said Lands & that he has heard the said James Brooks say he had taken pains to procure the best Information that the case would admit of to ascertain that fact Viz. the begining of the Dupee or Rigney Lands, and that the result of his the said James Brooks had led him to know that, that beginning was the proper One to this Land and further that the said William Orrell, has not reason to believe to the contrary, but on the reverse, has generally supposed that to be the begining of the said Dupee lands and further this Deponant saith not. Sworn to & Subscribed in the presence of this 17th day Septemr 1811 at Washington. William Orrell Edward Quin J Peace March Term 1811 Certified that this Deed from Wesley Levina & Bazzil Floyd to Jo B Hinton for 566 acres of Land was proven in Court by the Oath of William Rawls an Evidence thereto let it be Registered with the affidavits thereto annexed.
