Know all men by these presents that we, Thomas Godley, Joseph W. Godley, Sarah 
Godly and Robert Godly Junr of the County of Beaufort and State of North 
Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of one Hundred & twenty dollars & 
seventy cents to us in hand paid by Harman Hill of the County & State afsd 
before the signing, Sealing & delivery of have bargained Sold & delivered and 
by these presents do bargain sell & deliver unto the said Harman Hill his 
Heirs and assigns forever, a certain Negro boy Slave named Gim age about two 
years, which said Negro by Slave we the said Thomas Godley, Joseph W. Godley, 
Sarah Godley and Robert Godley Junr do by these presents, bind and oblige our 
Heirs, Exrs & Administrators to Warrant and forever defend unto the Said 
Harman Hill his heirs or assigns forever.  In Testimony whereof we have 
hereunto set our hands and seals this 20th of April 1811.

Joseph Wall, Robert Godley Senr

Septemr Term 1811. Certified that this Bill of Sale from Thos Godley and 
Others, to Harman Hill, for a Negro boy Jim was proven in Court by the Oath of 
Joseph Wall, a witness thereto & ordered to be Registered.
