Know all men by these presents that we Thomas Godley, Joseph Worsley Godley, 
Robert Godley Junr. and Harmon Hill of the County of Beaufort & State of North 
Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of One hundred and Ninety dollars 
to us in hand paid by Sarah Godley of the County & State afsd before the 
sealing and delivery of these presents have Bargained Sold and delivered and 
by these presence do bargain Sell and deliver unto the said Sarah Godley her 
Heirs and assigns forever a certain Negro girl slave Called Esther aged about 
five years, which sd. Negro Girl Slave, We the said Thomas Godly, Joseph W 
Godley, Robert Godley, Junr & and Harman Hill, do by these presents, bind & 
oblige our Selves, Our heirs Exrs and Administrators to Warrant & forever 
defend unto the said Sarah Godley her Heirs and Assigns forever.  In Witness 
Whereof we have hereunto set our hands & Seals this 20 day of April 1811.

Septemr Term 1811.  Certified that this bill of Sale from Thos. Godley & 
others to Sarah Godley, for a Negro Girl, was proved in Court by the Oath of 
Joseph Wall a Witness thereto and Orderd to be Registered.
