Exponeas issuing from the County Court of Beaufort being numbered Sixty four Returnable to September Term 1817 at the instance of Edward Quin against the heirs at Law of Edmond Peirce for the Sum of Five pounds two Shillings and Six pence debts damages costs and Charges not inclusive which said Sum was recovered by said Edward Quin against said Heirs at Law of Edmond Peirce deced as on record of said Court may appear and whereas the said Execution was directed and delivered to the said Allen Grist Esqr Sheriff as aforesaid commanding him that of the Goods Chattles Lands and Tenements of the said Edmond Peirce decd in the hands of his Heirs at Law he Shall cause to be made the aforesaid Sum of five pounds 2/6 and Eight pounds 12/9 Cost to satisfy the said execution with its cost thereon accruing and the said Allen Grist Sheriff as aforesaid in pursuance and by Virtue of his office and the aforesaid Execution did seize and take into his hands and Custoday (no goods of Chattles to be found). a certain piece of parcel of Land Situate lying and being in the said County of Beaufort bounden as follows on the South Side of Pamtico River West Side of Chocowinity and on the East Side of Joes Branch adjoining the lands of Uriah Edwards Charles Robert John Edwards Jesse Nobles and Noah Gallaway it being the one fourth part of the Land granted to George Piver and containing three hundred Acres more or Less the intention of these presents is to Convey one fourth part of said Grant and the said Allen Grist Sheriff as aforesaid after due advirtisement according to Law did cause the said piece or parcel of Land with all the appurtinances thereunto belonging to be put up at publick Sale to the highest bidder on the 30th day of August in the Year of our Lord 1817 at which time and place the aforesaid Thomas Allin became the Last and highest Bidder the sum of Thirty Six Dollars and fifty Cents for the said Land with the appertenances thereunto belonging and at which price the same was Struck off the said Thomas Allin. This Indenture Witnesseth that the said Allin Grist Sheriff of the County aforesaid for and in consideration of the said Sum of Thirty Dollars and fifty Cents to him in hand paid he the said Thomas Allen at and before the sealing and Signing of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge he the said Allen Grist Sheriff doth hereby bargain alien enfeoff convey and confirm unto said Thomas Allen his heirs Executors administrators or Assigns forever all the aforesaid Land Tennements and Appurtenances with all Right Title Claim or Demand of or unto the aforesaid pice or parcel of Land with all the Hereditaments and Emoluments to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining To have and to hold by him the said Thomas Allen his Heirs Executors adms or assigns forever in as full and ample a manner as he the said Sheriff is impoward by the Virtue of his Office and further the said Allen Grist Sheriff doth hereby covenant promis and grant to and with the said Thomas Allen his Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns who Shall and may from time to time and all times hereafter have held occupy possess and enjoy the said premises with the appurtenances free and Clear of and from all encumbrances had made done or commited by him the said Allen Grist Sheriff or by his order Mias or procurment and that he the said Allen Grist Sheriff will Warrant and defend the same to the said Thomas Allen his heirs excutors adms or Assigns forever so far as his Office of Sheriff will admit and no further In witness whereof the Said Allen Grist Sheriff of the County aforesaid hereto Set his hand and Seal the day and Year above Written Allen Grist Sheriff Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Jos B Hinton Feby Term 1824 Beaufort Co Court of Pleas and Qr Sessions Then was the Ex of the within Deed from Allen Grist Shiff to Thos Allen proved in Court by the acknowledgment of said Grist let it be Regst Jos B Hinton Clk Beaufort Deed Book 14, pp. 80-81.
