All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Kathy Wilde wildekat@hotmail.com November 14, 2005, 12:39 am Written: February 18, 1811 Recorded: June 1812 Beaufort County North Carolina This Indenture made and Entered into the Eighteenth day of Febuary AD one Thousand eight hundred and eleven between John Grist of the County of Beaufort and State of North Carolina on the one part and Joseph Gilford of the Couty and State aforesaid of the other — Witnesseth, that I the said John Grist for and in consideration of the sum of two Hundred and twenty seven pounds ten Shillings to me in hand paid (or to be paid) by the said Joseph Gilford have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell to the said Joseph Gilford a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Beaufort and state aforesaid. Situate as follows on the South Side of Pamplico river & West side of Chockawinity Swamp near the upper beaver Dam — Begining at a Hickory and runs west 99 pole then South Eight west to Williams Patmons line of Marked trees then with his line to the back line the[n] with the back line No five East to a pine Richard Grist’s Corner on the North side of the Haw branch the East thirty five pole to his old line then with Haw branch to the Swamp and with the Swamp to the begining Containing one hundred and Seventy Acres be the same more or less Being part of two tracts one Granted to Edmond Pearce dated 11th of November 1743 the other to Jacob Patmen in the year 1782 the before mentioned lands except that part Suppos’d to be ten acres sold by William Edwards to Frederick Downs. I the said John Grist do bind my self my Heirs my Extrs admrs and assigns to warrant and to forever Defend to the said Joseph Gilford his Heirs Extrs Admrs and Assigns free and clear from the lawfull claim and claims of any person or persons whatsoever in witness whereof I the said John Grist have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above Written John Grist Signed Sealed and Executed in presence of Fredk Grist Elizabeth Grist June Term 1812 Certifies that the Deed from John Grist to Joseph Gilford, for a tract of land was proved in Court by the Acknowledgement of said Grist, let it be registered.
