Caleb HOOTEN of Beaufort Co. to Jacob DARDEN of Hyde Co., NC
13 Sept. 1795

Know all men by these presents that I, Caleb HOOTEN of the County of Beaufort, 
State of N. Carolina for his consideration of the sum to two hundred Pounds 
Specie to me in hand paid by Jacob DARDEN of Hyde County the receipt I hereby 
acknowledge have granted bargained sold assigned & set over unto the sd. DARDEN 
a certain parcel of land lying in the County of Beaufort on the W. side of Bath 
town Creek containing Three hundred & twenty acres of land by Patent joining the 
Gleeb lines on the S. the lines of Joel MARTIN on the N at & by the Patent & 
plat appears & purchased of Wm BROWN, Dec’d who bought of John BRADY, dec’d as 
by deed will make appear.
To have and to hold to the said Jacob DARDEN him his heirs and assigns forever 
with all houses orchards Fences timber & ensuring other appurtenances thereto 
belonging or appertaining to him the said DARDEN his heirs & assigns against me 
my heirs & every other person or persons shall & will defend from the claim of 
me my heirs & every other person claiming by from or render me my heirs. 
In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand & seal the 13th day of Sept. 1795.
