Between Martha Hocout of the one part Executor of Edward Hocout, late of Beaufort County in the province of North Carolina deceased, and William Mace of the county and province, Merchant, of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Martha Hocout in virtue of the power and authority given her by the last will and Testament of said Edward Hocout deceased bearing date the 19th day of January 1749 for and inconsideration of seventy-six pounds thirteen shillings and four pence provincial money to the said Martha Hocout in hand paid by the said William Mace, hath granted bargained and sold aliened and confirmed unto the said William Mace and his heirs all the messuages, Situate lying and being in the lots numbered 5 and 6. The aforeaid lots together with the fronts thereto belonging in Bath Town; except a brick Storehouse, ten feet of ground on each side the said Storehouse excepted and reserved in a deed of bargain and sale from James Calf to said Edward Hocout deceased of the aforesaid premises bearing date 2 November 1748. To have and to hold said Messuages lots and premises with every part thereof with the appurtenances unto the said William Mace his heirs and assigns forever and the said Martha Hocout and her heirs the aforesaid Messduages, lots fronts and premises except as before excepted, to the said William Mace his heirs and assigns against the said Martha Hocout and her heirs and against all other persons will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said Martha Hocout hath hereunto set her hand and seal. Martha Howcot Beaufort Court, 1752 Present His Majesties Justices.
