This Indenture made this 16 day of May 1823 between Israel Perce of the one 
part & Major Clark of the other part both of the County of Beaufort and State 
of North Carolina.  Witnesseth that I the aforesaid Israel Pearce do by these 
presents bargain Sell convey and confirm unto Major Clark to him his heirs 
Executors and Administrators and Assigns the following property viz twenty 
five head of ??? Cattle One Horse, One hand Mill three feather Bed Steads and 
furniture with twenty head of Hogs with my crop of corn & wheat & three Guns 
for the purpose of Securing the payment to him and them of these several 
claims. is One a Judgment granted to Daniel Campbell Esqr on the 18th day of 
October 1819. In favor of Thos H Smith for forty four dollars and twenty cents 
with ??? cost & the other a note for forty nine dollars & two cents made 
payable to Major Jno Clark and dated the 16 day of May 1823 with Interest from 
the 22nd May 1821.  the third & last one for four pounds 1/7 payable to the 
afsd Clark bearing date 11 June 1817. & witnessd by David Henry. To have and 
to hold to him the afsd Major Clark to him his heirs executors admst & assigns 
forever.  Authorising him and them to make the Several Sums with there lawful 
Interests thereon out of the sale afsd property by public vendue for ready 
money after giving Ten days previous notice at three places with in the 
County.  Authorising him and them to seize and into possession take at this 
and at all times the property afsd for the purpose of aforesaid In witness 
whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this 16 day of May 1823.

deed from I Pearce to M J Clark provd in Court by the Oath of B Henry let it
