This Indenture made this the 9th of December in the year of our Lord One 
thousand Eight Hundred and twenty five between James Salter of the State of 
North Carolina and County of Pitt of the One part and John Edwards of the 
County of Beaufort of the other part Witnesseth that the Said James Salter for 
and In consideration of the Sum of two hundred and Sixty Seven Dollars to him 
in hand paid by John Edwards the receipt whereof Is hereby fully acknowledged 
and the said James Salter fully satisfied contented and paid hath given 
granted bargaind and Sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell 
convey and confirm unto the Said John Edwards of the State and County afsd his 
heirs and assigns forever. A certain piece or parcel of land Situate lying and 
being In the County of Beaufort In the long Neck on the East Side of creeping 
Swamp.  Beginning at a Cypress on the South Side of Blounts Swamp at the foot 
way crossing the same near the mouth opposite D. Wilsons plantation.  Running 
across the Swamp Eight pole to a Stake on the North Side of the Same then down 
the Swamp the Various courses of said run to Wilson line of R Blounts pattent 
then his line east One hundred and forty pole his beginning corner read Oak 
then his line No One hundred and Seventy Three pole to his corner.  In James 
Glassware’s line South  Side of Weston’s Branch then Glassgows line east two 
hundred and Sixty Seven pole South Twenty pole to his corner then No Eighty 
Six East five hundred and Thirty three pole to his beginning corner pine and 
Godleys Second corner then Godleys line North forty five East One hundred and 
Sixty pole to his beginning at a pine In the mouth of long neck west of Wm 
Richards house then South One hundred and Eighty pole to a Stake then South 23 
West 154 pole to Reading Blount & McLeroy corner then So 230 pole to a stake 
on the South of Blounts Swamp near the head of the same then with the various 
courses of the Swamp and high land and on the South side of the Same including 
all the Islands to the first Station out of the above patten which calls for 
One Thousand acres and remains unsold six hundred hundred I the Said James 
Salter do warrant and defend unto the said John Edwards his heirs Executors 
and assigns forever three hundred acres of land of the Six hundred acres 
before mentiond to have and to hold the afd land with all the premises to the 
same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the Said John Edwards his 
heirs and assigns forever and that Said James Salter doth agree that he will 
warrant  and forever defend the said land and premises to him the said John 
Edwards and his heirs forever against the claims of all persons whatsoever in 
witness whereof the Said James Salter hath here unto Set his hand and Seal the 
day and year above written.

within deed from James Salter to Jno Edwards provd in Court by the Oath of 
Thos Edwards let it be Registerd.
