Smith a negro Girl Slave by the name of Rose aged Ten Years or thereabouts for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and Twenty five Dollars to me paid the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and bind my self and hiers to warrant and defend the title of said Negro unto the said James H. Smith his heirs and assigns forever also that said negro is of Sound bodey limb and Sinu In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal Washington N.C. May 4th 1826 Robert S.
