State of North Carolina
Beaufort County

This Indenture made and entered into between Mariam Smaw of the County and 
State aforesaid of the one part and Thomas Smaw her brother of the same County 
and State of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the 
sum of one Hundred dollars by the said Thomas to her the said Mariam in hand 
paid at or before the Sealing and delivery of this presents the Receipt where 
of is hereby acknowledged & her the said Mariam fully paid Satisfied and 
Content therewith hath given granted bargained and Sold and by these presents 
doth give grant bargain and Sell unto the said Thomas Smaw his heirs and 
assigns all that right title and interest which the said Mariam hath in and to 
all and every part of parcel of Land or Lands which descinded to her by the 
death of her Father Thomas Smaw Senr decesd hereby warranting and defending 
all the right which She the said Maraim hath to the same to him the said 
Thomas his hiers and assigns forever given under my hand and Seal the 22d day 
of August 1827.

Beaufort Count Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions August Term 1827.  Then was 
the within Deed from Mariam Smaw to Thomas Smaw proved in Court by John S 
Woodard and Thomas Smallwood let it be Registered
