State of North Carolina  

Know all men by these presents that I  Rebecca Smaw Exrx of Henry Smaw decd of 
the County of Beaufort for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred 
dollars lawfull money of the State of North Carolina to me in hand paid by 
John McWilliams of the County of Beaufort at or before the ensealing of these 
presents the receipt whereof I the said Rebecca Smaw do hereby acknowledge 
have bargained and Sold and by these presents do bargin and sell unto the said 
John McWilliams his executors administrators and assigns Three certain Negroes 
(viz) old Tom Walker and his wife Fanny a male boy named Ben the child of 
Jenny form[er]ly the property of Henry Smaw Decd.
And I the said Rebecca Smaw for myself my heirs executors administrators and 
assigns unto the said John McWilliams his executors administrators and assigns 
against me the said Rebecca Smaw and my executors & administrators and against 
all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and forever 
defend by these presents  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and 
affixed my seal this 25th day of May 1821

May Term 1821 Beaufort County Court then the execution of the within Bill of 
Sale from Rebecca Smaw to John McWilliams was proved in Court by the oath of 
Anson Jarvis a Subscribing witness thereto let it be Recorded.
