Whereas by virtue of Sundry Executions issued by William Worsley a Justice of the Peace for the aforesaid county at the instance of Different Persons amounting to the Sum of thirty two dollars and forty cents, with costs and Interest: The said Executions then directed to any Lawful Officer commanding him to execute and sell as much of the Goods and Chattles, Land & Tenements of Henry Smaw as should make Good the Principle, Interest & costs of the Same in Obedience to which, the Subscriber by virtue of his office under the aforesaid Execution, did seize and take into his hand and custody a certain Negro the property of Said Smaw by the name of Ceaser, and did after due Notice as the Law directs, cause the said Negro to be put up at public Sale to the highest Bidder on the 20th of October 1820 at which time the aforesaid Rebecca Smaw became the last and highest Bidder at the Sum of thirty four dollars at which Sum the aforesaid Negro Ceaser was Struck off. The Indenture witnesseth that the Said Jarvis constable of the county aforesaid for and in consideration of the Sum of thirty two dollars and forty cents to him in hand paid by Rebecca Smaw at and before the Sealing and Signing of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, he the said Jarvis Constable of the county aforesaid, doth hereby bargain and sell convey and confirm unto the Said Rebecca Smaw all the rights title and Interest in and unto the aforesaid Negro To have and to hold the Said Negro unto the aforesaid Rebecca Smaw her heirs executors administrators and assigns forever in as full and ample manner as he the Said Jarvis Constable is Empowered To do by virtue of his office and No further. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year first above written. Anson Jarvis Signed Sealed and Delivered In presence of Jno McWilliams August Term 1822 Beaufort County Court Then the within Bill of Sale from Anson Jarvis constable to Rebecca Smaw was acknowledged in court by the Said Anson Let it be Registered.
