Whereas by virtue of an execution issued by Wm Worsly a Justice of the peace for the aforesaid county amounting to the sum of twenty two dollars with Interest, & costs[.] Said Execution was directed to Any Lawful officer, commanding him to execute and Sell as much of the Goods and chattles, Lands & tenements of Henry Smaw as Would Make Good the principal Interest and costs of the Same. In Obedience to which, the undersigned by virtue of his office under the aforesaid Execution did Sieze and take into his custody an[d] hands a certain Negro the property of the Said Smaw by the name of Ginny and did after due Notice as the law directs cause the said Negro to be put up at public Sale to the highest Bidder on the first day of December 1820 at which time the aforesaid Rebecca Smaw became the last & highest Bidder at the sum of twenty three dollars and fifty cents at which sum the aforesaid Negro Ginny was Struck off. This Indenture Witnesseth, that the Said Jarvis, constable of the county aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum aforesaid to me in hand paid By Rebecca Smaw at and before the Sealing and Signing of these presents, the Reciept whereof , is hereby acknowledged he the said Jarvis Constable aforesaid doth hereby bargain and sell convey and confirm unto the said Rebecca Smaw all the Right, title and Interest in and unto the aforesaid Negro, to have and to hold the Said Negro unto the aforesaid Rebecca Smaw, her heirs executors administrators and assigns forever in as full and ample manner as he the said Jarvis constable is empowered to do by virtue of his office and no further, In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above written.
