Beaufort County

To all to whom these presents shall come I John Smaw of the State and County 
aforsd Send Greeting Know ye that I the said John Smaw Senr for and in 
consideration of the natural Love & affection which I have and do bear unto my 
son William Smaw of the County & State aforesd & for divers other causes & 
consideration me hereunto moving hath given granted & by these presents do 
give and grant unto my said son Wm Smaw the Following property (to wit)  Two 
hundred acres Land the plantation inclusive whereon I now live also fifty 
acres of land belonging to Derhams Creek mills.  Includes of one fourth part 
of said Mills also one Negro Boy named Sam one Negro boy called Luke one other 
Boy named Major, also one Woman named Sarah — also one half of my Stock of 
Cattle Except Cows unto him the said William Smaw his Heirs Exrs admrs & 
assigns forever — and I the said John Smaw Senr will warrant and forever 
defend by these presents from all manner claims whatsoever unto him the said 
William Smaw his Heirs and assigns Forever.  In Witness whereof I have 
hereunto set my hand and seal this 8th day of March 1813.

June Term 1813 Certifed that his Deed of Gift from John Smaw to William Smaw 
for Sundry property was proved in court by the oath of Tho. Smaw a witness 
thereto let it be Registered.
