Beaufort  County 
Written: October 6, 1817
Recorded: December 1817

This Indenture made the Sixth day of October in the Year of our Lord one 
thousand eight Hundred & Seventeen, Between Michael Stilley & Mary Stealey of 
the one part and Friderick Waters Jr of the other part Both of the County of 
Beaufort and State of North Carolina, Witnesseth that for and in consideration 
of the Sum of Ten Pounds correntt Money them in hand paid before the ensealing 
& delivery of these presents by Friderick Waters Jr the receipt Whereof They 
doth acknowledge therewith to be Sattisfied and paid they the said Michial 
Stealey & Mary Stealey hath granted bargained & sold aliened enfeoffed and 
confirmed to the Said Friderick Worters Jr his hiers or assigns a certain 
tractt or parcel of Land in Beaufort County aforesaid on the North Side of 
Pamplico River beginning at Powells Mill Dam at John Waters corner runing West 
Eight pole to a Pine then North one hundred poles to a pine then East to W. 
Jones line the said Line to the beginning containing Forty Acres be the same 
more or less & all the appurtances to the same belonging or in any wise 
appurtaining & also the wrights titles claims & demands whatsoever of them the 
said Micheal Stilley & Mary Stilley and to the premises and to every part and 
parcel therof to have & to hold the said parcel of land with all the premises 
and appurtances to the same belonging unto the Friderick Waters Jr his heirs & 
assigns forever and they the said Micheal Stealy & Mary Stealey for themselves 
their heirs the said  Messuage & Tenements,  all & Singular the Houses 
Gardians and other the premises with the appurtences to him the Said Fridk 
Waters Jr his heirs & assigns will warrant and forever defend by these 
presents In Witness Whereof We have hereunto set ouf hands & Seals the day & 
Year above Written.

Decr Term 1817 Then was this deed from Martin Stilley [sic – should be 
Michael] & Mary Steeley to Fredk Waters proved in court by the oath of Martin
