Car., Solomon Sutton/ 1 tax and Paul Harrington/ 1 tax paid together on the same property, a freed negro woman Betty Sutton, 1 tax, James Blunt (Blount) 1 tax, Thomas Blunt, 1 tax, Jacob Blunt/ 1 tax and James Blount 1 white tax, 4 black tax. Beaufort Co. N. Car. Land Deeds LDS FHL microfilm 416-404 p. 457, North Carolina Indenture made 25th day of January 1759 between Benjamin Blount of the county of Beaufort and province aforesaid of the one part and Solomon Sutton of the other part. Henceforth, that for and in consideration of the sum of sixteen pounds pros: money to me in land paid by the said Sutton before the the delivery of these presents the Rid. I do hereby acknowledge have given, granted, bargained and sold, conveyed and confirmed unto the said Solomon Sutton, his heirs and assigns forever, a parcel of land by estimation 50 acres more or less situated on the West side of Swift's Creek, beginning at the mouth of a branch canes the inside path running up said branch to the bark line, then E .to the said creek, then up the same to S. Branch as by patent, dated the 26 of March 1755. To have and to hold said grant and promises with all the appountmanus thereto belonging to the said Solomon Sutton, his heirs and assigns forever to this and their use and behoof, and I the said Benjamin Blount, forever and my heirs that I am the lawful owner of the premises, and the same in the named aforesaid, free and clear of all encumbrances and I am the said Blount for me and my heirs do covenant and engage to the said Benjamin Sutton (this was in error, it was Solomon), his heirs and assigns the licensed premises against the claims and deemed of all persons whatsoever to warrant and defend.
