Beaufort County, NC - Robert Tripp deed written 1775 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Peggy Tripp Workman Surname: Tripp, Nevel, Navel, Nevil, Neville This is the third oldest deed for Robert Tripp. He purchased one hundred acres on Nevel's Creek from Alsolom Nevel. This deed was written in 1775, but not recorded until 1778. During the Revolutionary War the City of Washington, NC was held by Union Troops ....difficult to get to the Courthouse to record a deed! Note the language in the 2nd paragraph ...to have and to hold etc. Grantor: Alsolom Nevel Written April 1775, recorded March 1778 Beaufort County Courthouse Recorded Deed Book 4 p 511 This Indenture made this 17th day of April 1775 between Alsolom Nevel of Beaufort County of the Province of North Carolina Party of the one part & Robert Tripp of the County & Province of said manner of the other part. Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of Six Pounds Proc money to him the said Alsolom Nevel in hand paid by the said Robert Tripp before the ensealing & delivery of these present have granted sold unto and alined & confirmed to the said Robert Tripp his heirs & assigns forever a Tract or parcel of land situate & being on the S: side of Pamptico River & on the W: side of Nevils (2nd page) Nevel's Creek beginning at the Creek at the old going _?__ _?___ is a mile & half above _?__ _?__running down to the Creek with the windings of the Creek Eighty nine poles & half then S: 70 W 179 poles then S: 20 E 89 Poles & half then W: 70 E: to the Creek & with the Creek to the first Station for one hundred Acres more or less patented by Henry Sockey with all Premises thereunto belonging to anyway appertaining unto the said Robert Tripp. To have and to hold the said Parcel of Land & Premises & appurtenances unto the said Robert Tripp or his Exectors admin'ors or assigns forever & every of them that or lawfully may from time to time & at all times hereafter freely and quietly & absolutely have hold occupy possess & enjoy all and singular the said Premises & appertenances & all profits & advantages thereof coming arising & growing have & take without any manner of Suit trouble vexation execution disturbance or other hindrance or molestation whatsoever of him the said Alsolom Nevel his heirs and assigns & also that the said Land & all & singular the appertenances now are & from henceforth shall remain or continue & be unto the said Robert Tripp his Exe'ors adm'ors or assigns & clear & free and clearly & absolutely acquitted freed discharged of & from all manner of & from all other former bargains sales gifts grants a_?__ devises uses dowers entails leases rights rents fines judgments executions recognisances & debt & do warrant to above bargained from all & every person forever whosoever.
