T. Marsh The STANDARD of Raleigh, Oct. 8, 1862 CAPTAIN W. T. MARSH We regret to learn that this gallant officer received a wound in the Battle of Sharpsburg, of which he died on the 24th September. We saw his servant on Saturday last, who showed us CAPTAIN MARSH'S watch, which was struck by the bullet that caused his death. The watch is a small gold one, and was in the overshirt pocket on his left breast. The ball struck the lower part of the watch, crushed and bent it, and passed into his body. CAPTAIN MARSH lingered for about a week at the house of MR. MCQUILTON, two miles this side of Shepardstown, where he was kindly nursed and cared for. CAPTAIN MARSH belonged to the 2nd State Troops, having entered the service at the beginning of the war. He was a young man of much promise. He was a member of the last Legislature from Beaufort County, and had been reelected a member of the present Legislature. Additional Comments: * American Civil War Regiments gives Company I, 4th Infantry Regiment in which Capt. Marsh first enlisted. He was commissioned on May, 16, 1861.
