Died

At his residence near Bath, Beaufort county, on Friday, 19th inst., Mr. John L. 
Boyd, aged 74 years and one month. Mr. Boyd was a kind father and an affectionate 
husband, a warm friend, an indulgent master and a worthy citizen, and has left a 
large circle of relations and friends to mourn his loss.

Being cast upon the world in early life, pennyless and friendless, he well knew 
how to sympathize with those whose lot have been cast in the same sphere; and 
consequently the poor man has never sought a shelter under his protection, or his 
aid, in vain.

He has left a worthy example of home industry and domestic economy and after 
spending a long and active life crowned with pecuniary success. Having 
established himself that character which is the noblest work of God, "an honest 
man" he has quit his earthly tenement to try the realities of a never ending 
eternity.
