DIED At his residence in Beaufort County on the 6th instance WILLIAM JONES ELLISON. He was a native of Beaufort County, and removed to Williamson, Martin County, where he pursued, for many years, the practice of law, with energy and success. He returned to Beaufort in the year 1854. The people of both counties have shown their appreciation of his worth, by electing him to many places of high responsibility and trust . He served as County Solicitor in both counties. He was, at the time of his death, Chairman of Beaufort County Court, Chairman of the Committee of Finance in the County and a delegate in the State Convention. He was an honest , upright man and a useful citizen. He was eminent for his energy and industry. He was firm and tenacious of his principles and his ability enable him to command the respect and esteem of his fellow citizens. His loss will be a source of very general regret among the people whom he represented so acceptably in the Convention. He leaves an interesting family to lament his loss.
