Mrs. Spruill was born in Leechville, NC, daughter of the late Carl and Gertrude Davis and she was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Thomas F. Spruill, her son, Frank Spruill, and her brother, Winfred Davis. She is survived by her brothers Horace Brantley Davis and Carl Alton Davis and his wife Jeanne. Joyce was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Her loving family includes two daughters, Brenda Joyce Bass and her husband, Jim, of Courtland, VA and Vivian Leigh Sakis and her husband, Chris, of New Milford, CT; eight grandchildren, Paul Bass, Grace Smith, David Bass, Rachel Rudd, Matthew Bass, Kara Leigh Sakis, Amber Sakis, and Joshua Sakis; twelve great-grandchildren, Hannah, Rebecca, Caleb, Justin, John, Elijah, Emily, Luke, Thomas, James, Joshua, and Krew. The joy of Joyce’s life was her sacrificial serving of her husband, children, church, family and friends. Joyce was a member of Rock Church of Franklin, VA of which she enjoyed the fellowship and loving support of her life group. Her faith inspired those around her to trust the Lord more. Her hope inspired others to know eternity with the Lord is real. Her love flowed from God and that love will continue to impact all who were blessed to know her. A funeral will be held at 3pm Saturday, June 9th, at Rock Church of Franklin with Pastor David Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin. The family will receive visitors Saturday at 2pm before the service. The family suggests memorials be made to Rock Church of Franklin. The family would like to thank those who loved, cared for and supported Joyce through the years.
