SGT. LEWIS EARL WOMBLE The remains of Tech. Sgt. Lewis Earl Womble, a former resident of Franklin, who was killed in an airplane accident of Tucson, Ariz., on Thursday, March 23, arrived in Franklin for burial service on Sunday afternoon, April 2. Sgt. Womble was the husband of Mrs. Marie Price Womble of Tucson, and son of Mrs. Clara Lewis Womble of Franklin and the late William Henry Womble of Aurora, N.C. He was a member of the Franklin Congregational-Christian Church. Besides his mother and wife he is survived by a daughter, Miss Clara Lee Womble of Tucson; two sisters, Mrs. J.C. Copeland of Franklin and Mrs. D.R. Lewis of Stonewall, N.C.; three brothers, J.M. Womble of Wilson, N.C., Tony L. Womble of Blounts Creek, N.C., and Tom Womble of Mississippi; and several nephews and nieces. The funeral cortege left the Holland Funeral Home at 1:45 p.m. for Aurora, where graveside services were conducted by Rev. William A. Grissom.
