David Samuelsen - March 2002 ************************************************************************ Beaufort County, NC; Vol. 1 page 11 In the Name of God Amen, I, Richard Bright of Beaufort prect, planter, being in bodily health but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God and considering the uncertainity of this transatory life do for avoiding controversies after my decease do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first and principally I recommend my soul unto the hand of Almighty God who gave it hoping through the merits death and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life. Impris. I will that all my debts and funerall charges be paid and discharged. Item. I give and bequest unto my son James the land I now live upon and my violin to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give unto my daughter Christia two cowes and heifers with their increase which said heifers are markt with an underkeel in the right and a popler leaf in the left. Item. I give unto my daughter Elizabeth one cow and calf. Item. I give unto my son Simon my buckaneer gun and one cow and calf. Item. I give unto my mother in law one cow and calf and all the rest and residue of my wordly estate I give and bequeath unto "..." Mary (her x mark) Paul Beauft & Hide Pct} March Court 1731/2} The within memored will was exhibited into Court and proved by the oath of John Mattcake one of the subscribing evidences thereto and that he saw the other two evidences signed the same and the within memored Executrix took the oath appointed by law to perform the said will and ordered the Secretary have notice thereof.
