 Will Book  2, pages 163-164, Beaufort County, NC

                             WILL OF SUSAN DOWNS

 I Susan Downs of the aforesaid  county and state, being of sound mind, but
 considering the uncertainty  of my earthly existence,  do make and declare
 this my last will and testament:

 First, I give and devise to my brother Britton E. Downs all my real estate
 for his natural life then to his heirs.

 Second I  give and  devise to  Sarah Ernestine  Downs (my  niece), Mary S.
 Downs (my  niece),  Johnson  R. Downs  (my  nephew,  William H.  Downs (my
 nephew)  and Lula  E.  downs  (my  niece)  each  of them  to  have  a cow.

 Third I give and  devise to Sarah E.  Downs (my niece) one feather bed and
 to Mary S. Downs  and Lula E. Downs  (my niece) each enough of my personal
 property to make them equal with Sarah E. Downs.

 Fourth, I give and devise to Johnson R. Downs (my nephew) one feather bed.

 Fifth I give and  devise to William H.  Downs (my nephew) one feather bed.

 Sixth. My  will and  desire is  that all  the residue  of my  estate after
 taking out the  division and  legacies above mentioned  be equally divided
 between my  brother's  children  (namely)  Sarah E.,  Mary S., Johnson R.,
 William H. and Lula E. Downs.

 Seventh, I hereby  constitute and  appoint my brother  Britton E. Downs my
 lawful executor to all  intents and purposes to  execute this my last will
 and testament  according to the  true intent  and meaning of  the same and
 every part and clause thereof, hereby revoking and declaring entirely void
 all other wills and  testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof,
 I the said Susan  Downs do hereunto set  my hand and seal this (7) seventh
 day of October (1895) Eighteen hundred and ninety five.

 Signed, sealed, published and  declared by the said  Susan Downs to be her
 last will and  testament in the presence  of us who at  her request and in
 her   presence   do   subscribe    our   names   as   witnesses   thereto.
