I Solomon Mayo of the State of North Carolina and County of Beaufort. Being through abundant mercy and goodness of God. Though weak in Body yet of a Sound and perfect understanding and memory. Praised be God. Do make & constitute this my last will and Testament and desire It may be received by all as such Imprimis Item I lend to my loving wife Betsy Mayo this Plantation where on I now live. Likewise my young horse. Likewise I lend her a Equal part with the Children of all my property. During her widowhood also I lend unto her a Negro man by the name of Ned for the raising and bringing up of my small children till of age. Likewise I give unto my loving wife five cows and calves two steers all of her own choices two beds and fur nature. Item I give to my Son John Mayo after my wife widowhood this house whereon I now live containing one hundred and twenty five acres of land to him my said Son and his heirs but if my said Son should die without issue my will is that the said land should des cend unto my Son Henry Mayo also I give unto my Son John one bed mark as thus [a crooked I] also one mare 18 months old. Item I give unto my Son James Mayo one hundred acres of land lying on the South Dividing Creek to him my said Son and his heirs and ass igns forever also one mare 5 years old also one bed already given.
