David Samuelsen - March 2002 ************************************************************************ Beaufort County, NC; Vol. 1 page 19 (original spelling retained) In the Name of God Amen, the 29 day of Novr in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred & thirty four, I Francis Newton of North Carolina, Bath County, Beaufourth & Hyde pecincts, planter, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God, therefore calling unto mind mortality of my body knowing that it is apointed for all men once to dye do make and ordain this my last will and testament, That is to say principally and first I give & recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manenr at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in the life I give devise and dispose of the same in following manner & form. Item. I give unto my housekeeper Sophya Lewlan one cow & calf and "..." three year old steer & one two year old steer & twelve head of hogs "..." and pot and pan & six barl of Indian corn. Item. I give unto my well beloved son Joseph one pot and cow and calf & a yearling. Item. I give unto Sophya Lewlan' Daughter Kesiah one cow and calf and a yearling. Item. I give unot "..." child that the aforsd Sophya now is goeth with one cow. And I do hereby utterly revoke and disannul all former wills and legacies and Executors by me in any way named, ratifying this and no other to be my last will and testament.
