David Samuelsen - March 2002 ************************************************************************ Beaufort County, NC; Vol. 1 page 3 (original spelling retained) In the Name of God Amen I, James Scot of the precinct of Hyde being of sound & perfect mind & memory, praise be therfore given to Almighty God, do make & ordain this my present & last will & testament in manner & form following that is to say, last and principally commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God, hoping through the merits, death & passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ, to have full & free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins, and to inherit everlasting life. And my body to commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named. And as touching the deposition of all such temporal Estate as it has pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give & dispose thereof as followeth. First. I will that my debts be truly paid & satisfied. Item, I give unto Mrs. Ann Webster, wife of Mr. William Webster the sum of Forty Shillings to buy her a ring. Item, I give unto Sarah Thorowgood, Daughter of the above sd Mrs. Ann Webster one good young gentle cow & calf, my two best muslin neck cloths. Item, I will that all my sheep male & female as equally divided between Ann Thorowgood & Yardly Thorowgood, Daughters of the above sd Mrs. Webster and I do give & bequeath them unto them accordingly. Item, I give unto Eleanor Welch, Daughter of Mr. James Welch one good young gentle cow & calf. Item, I give & bequeath unto my loving friend William Webster all my other wearing apparrel the two neck clouths above given excepted. All the rest and residue of my Estate lying & being in this province, I do give & bequeath unto my loving friend Mr. James Welch whom I do appoint sole Executor of this my last will & testament and I do hereby revoke, diannul & make void all former wills & testaments by me heretofore made.
