John (X his mark) Wallis Witness: Robert Premser, Davis (X his mark)Hayon, _________________ (can not read) Recorded in Record of Old Wills page 237 or 257, Will 1791, John Wallis, Recorded in Orphans Book page 22 or 23, Ald. Ellison Additional Comments: John Wallas/Wallis had married the widow Mary "Polly" Hutson. Polly had two daughters named Sally & Betsy Hutson from her previous marriage. (John mentioned both of her daughter's in his will as daughters-in-law). John also mentions his daughter whom he names as Lenner Wallas in his will. Lenner was his only child by his marriage to Polly Hutson. (Lenner's birth name was Leonard). John Wallis was intent on naming his first born son Leonard after his friend Capt. Leonard so when his daughter was born, he named her Leonard anyways. Lenner married William Griggs and they migrated to Hancock County, Ga. In all other records she is referred to as Linnah, Linah, etc. Many suceeding generations were named after her. (William Griggs & Leonard "Lenner or Linnah) Wallas/Wallis were my grt. grt. grt. grt. grandparents).
