Thanks to Bonnie Hoggard for working so hard on the Floyd's. Thanks to Pete Austin for my Harrell line and helping with the Parker line. Thanks to Mary Jo Parker-Perkins for working on the Parker line with me. WE ARE ALL COUSINS George Turner Floyd b. June, 1886 d. June, 1989. He Married Mary Jane Tynes b. April 8, 1905 d. July 24, 2002. My Grandparents. They both are buried at Edgwood Cemetery rt. 13 north of Windsor. Along side my grandparents is my aunt Arlene Floyd b. 1927 d. 1947 in a car accident in Virginia. My family comes from Va. to Bertie County, NC. Grandpa George was born in Lewiston and my Grandma from Mendham, Morris County,NJ. All though grandma was born in NJ. Her parents DeGrasse Tynes and Gabrella (Ella)Parker came from Roxobel. Every Summer I'd come from Philadelphia, Pa., to spent the summers with my grandparents. The best time we had was every night grandma and I would go out to the porch and sit in the swing my grandpa built and Grandma would tell me stories about all the family. Had I known she was doing genealogy, I would have been envolved young. It wasn't until she passed and left me a big box of pictures, papers, wills, marriage records, delayed births for grandpa and his honorable discharge from the service WW1. Now 4 Times a year I am down in Windsor,NC, looking up more information. Also, Virginia and Jackson, NC for proof of my Lineage. Mary Jane Tynes-Floyd along side her Mother Gabrella (Ella)Parker-Tynes, workerd the fields. Tobacco, cotton and such. Grandpa was a logger, then the war and when he returned he became an auto mechanic. What a mix we have! Many wrote about Joseph S. Parker who married Mary Moore Rawls and goes into the Bazemore's. Joseph S. is my gg-uncle, brother to James Robert Parker my gg-grandfather who married Ellen E. Harrell, Daughter of Jesse Harrell and Elizabeth Connor and goes back to the first Pioneer John Harrell my 8th grandfather. The Floyd Line runs into Todd, Bazemore, etc. The Tynes line married into Cox line, Newsom,West, Lawerance,Smith, Wilkins etc. The Parkers are out of the House of England and Brwsholme Hall at www.browsholme.co.uk/genealogy.htm We know through Horas Peele we are related to the Peele line at www.txdirect.net/~hpeele/ Timothy Tynes my 7th grandparent first apears in Isle of Wight County, Va. 28 July 1703 and bought land from Christopher Reynolds,Isle of Wight deed book 2, p. 74-76 < Mark James > Now what does all this have to do with George Turner Floyd? He Started it all when he married my grandma, Mary Jane Tynes. His sence of humor was terrific and could make you laugh all the time. Grandpa would take me out every day to visit Pete Tynes auto shop in Lewiston,NC. Some days we would go to a water mellon stand and he taught me how to spit water mellon seeds as far as I could. He loved to play the Banjo at family reunions along with DeGrasse Tynes would play the violin. Grandpa, people called freight,I have no Idea why. I called him my Chum Buddy. He taught me to drive and run his boat. Grandpa could make a great go cart out of a lawn mower, so the children in the neighborhood could have fun. He built the swing on the proch. The back of the swing would half flip and become a cradel where 5 generations were rocked to sleep. In Gods Hands he went, and one day we will be together riding go carts in heaven. Additional Comments: I have in my genealogy. West Tynes Jr.. original Will. His mozzle loader from the war of 1812 is with my brother. I have his Delayed Birth record,Honorable discharge papers. I have my grandma's birth certificate, marriage cert. and when they bought their house on 708 King St. Windsor, NC, I have the original title. I have Grandpa's family line of Floyd's. This is my first time. I hope it is ok? File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/bertie/bios/floyd4gbs.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 4.5 Kb
