(However, a John Jenkins did appear in a deed record as early as Aug 12, 1730.) He listed his wife, Anne, and 8 children: James, Elizabeth, Cassia, Mary, John, Anne, Cader, and Lewis. However, he appears to the same man as this "early" John Jenkins who began to purchase land in 1730 in Bertie Co. There is no will for this John Jenkins who probably died after 1774. The will of John Jenkins married to Mary, who died Feb. 1779 is most likely the son of John of Nansemond. *17 July 1730 Chowan Prec. Robert Riddick to Thos.
