Ruffin Coroner _____________________________________________________ Be it remembered that on the 19 day of Jan 1914 I J B Ruffin Coroner of Bertie County attended by a Jury of good and lawful men C- W- Joyner A. S. Bazemore H - G - Harrington J. C. Williams W. H - Burden Edd Ward by me summoned for the purpose according to law and after being by me duly sworn and empaneled at John Albrights house in Bertie Co. Woodville Township did hold and inquest over the dead body of John Albright and after inquiring into the facts and circumstances of the death of the deceased from a view of the corpse and consideration of all testimony to be procured the Jury finds as follows to wit: - that the deceased John Albright came to his death as the result of a blow inflicted by W- T- Earley and that the said W- T- Earley inflicted said blow in the necessary defence of himself from a [ ? ] and violent attack on him by said deceased with a pocket knife Further find that said W- T- Earley was justified in inflicting said blow on deceased in his self defence and that he is therefore excusable Foreman C.
