BRYAN} and something I can't read then: To August Court 1754 Bertie County Barker ALLY? (on the side it reads) John POTTS Damage Ten Pounds Lawfull money of Great Britain and thereof he brings suit. Barker D. ___? Bertie county August Court 1754 Needham BRYAN late of the County aforesaid Plantation was attached to answer John SMITH of a plea of Prosession? the Case and whereupon the said John by Thomas BARKER his Attny. complains that whereas the said Needham on the Seventeenth Day of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty three at Bertie county aforesaid made his certain Promisory Note in writing with his Proper name and hand Writing thereto subscribed by which he promised to Pay the said John or his order the sum of Eleven pounds Seven Shillings and Seven Pence half Penny Virginia Currency for Value received when he should be hereto required by reason of which and be force of the Statute in such Case made and provided the said Needham became liable to pay the said John the aforesaid eleven pounds seven shillings and seven pence half penny according to the Tenor and Effect of the said Note.
