Allotment of Provisions for Widow Winniford Cowand &
Family**

Bertie County Court Feby Term 1836

Ordered that Ralph Outlaw David Rice and Martin White
lay off & allot to the widow &family of George Cowand
decd their years provisions out of his estate and that they
make return to our next court court

In pursuance of the annexed commission directed to us
from the worshipful county court of Bertie in Requiring us
to lay off to Winniford Cowand widow of George Cowand
decd a years maintainance for herself and family out of the
stock provisions &c on hand belonging to George and if
there was none there in money and it appearing that there
is no provisions or stock on hand & there being no
adminstrator we assess the value of her years provisions
at fifty four dollars &we assigns to the satisfaction thereof
a draft drawn by Amos Kendall post master General drawn
on the bank of the United States Bank at Richmond Va for
$44 50/100 now in possession of George Cowand &nine
dollars due from Robt Winns to said George Cowand decd
& also so much of a note in the hands of John B Williams
& David Watford for twenty five dollars payable at said
George Cowands decd &shall be sufficient to make up the
Said sum of fifty four dollars In testimony whereof we have
hereunto Set our hands this 18th day of May 1836
