Bertie COUNTY NC Indenture Papers Richard Dillon File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by jmgordeymiron@aol.com Miron Gordey http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/bertie/court/dillon.txt This Indenture made the Twenty Sixth day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven ~ hundred and fifty nine Between John Brown Esquire One of the Justices of the County Court of Bertie and his Succefsors of the one Part: And Christopher Harrison of the same County and ~ Province Cooper (the word cooper is written in above on the original document.) of the other Part Witnefseth that the said John Brown by Virtue of the Power and Authority in him by Law Vested. Do Put and Bind unto the said Christopher Harrison as an apprentice Richard Dillon son of James Theophilus Dillon about the age of Twelve years: The said Richard Dillon with the said Christopher Harrison to Live until he shall Accomplish the age of Twenty one years: during all which Term or time the said Richard Dillon his said Master he shall faithfully Serve and all his Lawfull Commands every where Gladly obey: Neither shall he the said Richard Dillon Frequent Publick Houses, Contract Matrimony or Commit fornication during the said Term: and the said Christopher Harrison doth Covenant Promise and agree to and with the said John Brown and him succefsors that he will Teach or Cause to be Taught and Instructed the said Richard Dillon in the Art and History of a Cooper in the Best manner that he Can: And also that he will find and Provide for the said Richard Dillon Suficient Meat Drink Apparall Washing and Lodging in Sickness and in Health for and during the said Term: and the said Christopher Harrison Doth further Covenant and Oblige himself to Cause the said Richard Dillon to be, Taught to Read and Write: And also at the Expiration of the said Term Pay to the said apprentice what the Law in that Case doth allow. In Testimony where of the Parties to these present have hereunto Interchangeably Set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
