Michael King Estate, 1807

State of North Carolina Bertie County
Know all men by these presents that I James Cherry Deputy Sheriff did by virtue 
of a writ of fieri facias on execution issued from the County Court of Bertie at 
February Term 1808 in favour of Henry King against the goods & chattels of 
Michael King dec’d if any to be found if not against the goods & chattels lands 
tenements of John H. King his executor & by virtue said execution I did hereon 
and take possession of one Negro woman named Peg and after due and legal notice 
by advertising did on the 15th day of March 1808 did expose said Negro to sale 
and William Bryan of Halifax amoung others did appear and bid the sum of seventy 
five pounds which was the highest bid that could be got for said Negro now I the 
said James Cherry Deputy Sheriff as aforesaid do by virtue of said execution and 
for and in consideration of the aforesaid sum of seventy five pounds warrant and 
for ever defend the title of said Negro to him the said William Bryan & his 
heirs forever. As far as the acts of the General Assembly authorize me to do & 
no further.
