All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Terri Ferguson Bell missya@hotmail.com April 17, 2010, 10:21 am Bertie County/Chowan Precinct Written: December 27, 1758 Recorded: January 15, 1759 1758 Dec 27- Bell to Campbell North Carolina This Indenture made and Concluded the Twenty Seventh day of December in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty Eight Between George Bell of Duplin County in the Provence aforesaid of the one Part and John Campbell of Bertie County in the said Provence Merchant of the other Part Witnesseth that the said George Bell for and in Consideration of Fifty-ponds Current Proclamation money to him in hand Paid by the said John Campbell the Reciept whereof the said George Bell doth hereby Acknowledge He the said George Bell Hath granted Bargained and sold; and by thes presents doth Grant Bargain and sell unto unto the said John Campbell his heirs and apigns a Certain Tract adn Parcel of Land Estimated to Contain Two Hundred Acres Scitute and Lying in Bertie County on the North side of the Cashie River Butted and Bounded as followeth Viz't Beginning on Colonel Pollocks Line on the south side of Sams Branch then North East to Major Wests Line, then Southerly to Cushie River being the Lands formerly sold by Roger Snell to my father Robert Bell as by a Deed Pole dated the Seventh day of August 1721 Recorded in the Chowan Precinct the 16th day of October 1722 and again Enrolled in Bertie County the 1st day of November 1739. Reference to the said Title Deeds being so had may appear,and futher the said Land being so held in fee by the said Robert Bell who died without a Will and I the said George Bell, being his Eldest Son, and heir at Law Obtained Admistration on the Intestate Estate and made the Lawful and Necessary Dispositions thereof by due discharge of all Just Debts. Filial Portions and Childrens Share in and to all Parts and Partials thereof: This my Estate by Inheritance and which I do now by this my Act and Deed Convey Release, Exonerate and Confirm unto the said John Campbell his heirs, Excrs., and apsigns, forever as his Right Estate in and to the said Tract of Land ~ Estimated Held and Deemed to Contain the full Quantity of Two Hundred acres be the same more or Less (Only Reserving to the use of my Family, and Kindred, the Burying Ground where the Bodys of my Father Robert Bell and others are Laid and for as many as may Hereafter Require to be there Intered with Liberty of Ingress and Egress in and to the same whenever required by me or any relation to be there intered to the space or quantity of one quarter of an acre for this purpose) Together with all Houses, Orchards, Edifires Buildings Waters and Water Courses and Hereditaments in and to the same in any wise appertaining or to the same Belonging in any manner and from Whatsoever to the said Plantation and Tract of Land belonging or in any wise appertaining and the Reversion and Reverisions, Remainder and Remainders Rents and services of the said Tract and all the Estate Right Tille Interest Claims and Demands Whatsoever of him the said George Bell in and to the said Two Hundred acres of Land Except the Graves as before mentioned. To have and to hold the said Tract of Land and Premisses with all the Singular Rights Privilages, Commodities Advantages in and to the same and freely and Clearly from all Gifts Dowess Legacies Intacts Filial Portions and any manner of Incumbrances Whatsoever (the Quint Rents due and yearly becoming Payable also Excepted to be Paid by the said John Campbell) And further it is also Covenanted and agreed that I am at the time of making this Deed in my own Right Legally Seized of the said Tract of Land and Plantation and have in my self Good Right and Lawfull Authority to sell Convey Transfer and Confirm the said Tract and Parcel of Land unto him the said John Campbell and his assigns and that I will forever to him the same Warrent adn forever Defend against teh Claim of any Persons Whatsoever And at his Request and Charge hereafter when thereto Required make any other or further Deed for the BetterAssurance of his Right in and to the same as Counsil Learned into Law shall advise or Devise for his Quest and full and Absolute Possession of Estate in and to the same: In Testamony whereof the said George Bell have hereinto Set my hand and affixed my seat the day and year above Written. January 15th 1759 This Deed from George Bell to John Campbell Esq. was Proved before me by the Oath of Camp'l. Samuel Barron one of the Subscribing Evidences thereto. Let it be Registered. J.
