Ruffin of Bertie County and state of North Carolina For and in Consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars to me in hand paid by James King of the State of Tennessee & County of Stewart at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Blount B. Ruffin do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said James King his Executors administrators and assigns a certain negro Girl named Hetty to have and to hold the said negro Girl Hettey above bargained and sold or intended so to be to the said James King His executors administrators & assigns for ever And I the said Blount B. Ruffin for myself my heirs executors administrators the said negro Hettey unto the said James King his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Blount B. Ruffin my executors administrators and against all and every other person o! r persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents In Witness Whereof I here unto set my hand and seal this 14th Day of August 1821 Blount B.
