"George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith: To all to whom this presents shall come yielding Know ye that for diverse good causes and considerations but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of Forty Shillings of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia. We have given granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and successors do give grant and confirm unto William BRYANT one certain tract or parcel of Land containing three hundred and seventy acres lying and being in the County of Isle of Wight on the North Side Maherrin River and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a pine by the side of Rusher’s Branch, Thence North Twenty five degrees East twenty six poles to a pine in the said Bryant’s Old Line, Thence by the said Bryant’s Old Lines North Sixty five Degrees East sixty four poles to a pine North twenty five Degrees West forty eight poles to a pine South seventy five Degrees East eighty four poles to a small red oak and North East forty four poles to a pine a corner of Lewis WHITEHEAD’S Land, Thence by the said Whitehead’s Lines South sixty five Degrees East one hundred and twenty six poles to a pine a corner of Joseph DELK’S Land, thence by the said Delk’s Line South twenty Degrees East one hundred and thirty poles to a pine, Thence Southwest one hundred and sixty poles to a Lightwood Post in Samuel BRIDGER’S line, Thence by the said Bridger’s Line North sixty five Degrees West one hundred and eighty poles to a pine by the side of Rusher’s Branch aforesaid and up the various courses of the run of said branch to the beginning. With All woods underwoods Swamps and Marshes, Longmines, meadows feedings and his due share of all veins mines and Quarries as wel discovered or not discovered within the bounds aforesaid and being part of the said Quantity of three hundred and seventy Acres of Land river marshes and water courses therein contained together with the privileges of hunting hawking fishing fowling and all other profits commodities and Heriditments to the same or any part thereof belonging or in anywise appertaining To Have Hold pocess and enjoy the said Tract or parcel of land and all other the before granted premises and every part thereof with their and every of their appurtainces unto the said William BRYANT and to his heirs and assigns forever to the only use and behoof of him the said William BRYANT his heirs and assigns forever To Be Held of us our heirs and successors as of out manner of East Greenwich in the County of Kent in free and common soccage and not in Caprite by Knight’s Service Yielding and Paying unto us our Heirs and successors for every fifty acres of Land and is proportionally for a less or greater Quantity than fifty acres the fee rent of one shilling yearly to be paid upon the feast of Saint Michael the Arch Angel and also ??????ing and improving three acres Part of every fifty of the tract aforementioned within three years after the Date of these presents provided always that if three years of the Fee Rent shall at any time be in arrears and unpaid or if the said William BRYANT his heirs or assigns do not within the space of three years next coming after the date of these presents cultivate and improve three acres part of every fifty of the tract above mentioned then the Estate above granted shall cease and be utterly de?????ined and thereafter it shall and may be lawful to and for us our heirs and successors to grant the same land and premises with the appurtainances unto such other person or persons as us our heirs or successors shall think fit. In witness whereof we have caused these our Letters Patent to be made.
