All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Lisagraham32@aol.com Lisa Graham http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/bertie.htm In a 20 year period 1722-1741, over 500 livestock marks were recorded in Bertie County Court. Identification was necessary due to the livestock roaming freely. People came to Court during those years and made records of marks. Example: "A close Crop in the ear and two in the right." There are parts of 40 pages of listing for Bertie County Live Stock Marks archived in Raleigh, N.C. Some are torn and missing, but most names are transcribable along with the year. I hope you find someone. 1722 Page 1- Court held at house of James HOWARD- 1722 Marks Recorded: Col.
