Written: December 28 1768

THIS INDENTURE, Made the Twenty Sixth Day of December in the Year of our Lord 
One Thoufand Seven Hundred and Sixty Eight Witneffeth, That Cullen Pollock Esq. 
Chairman of the Court of Bertie County, have put and placed Joseph Moore the 
son of Agnis Moore, aged about four years an Apprentice to John Olliver of the 
faid County, with him to dwell, refide, and ferve, until he the faid Apprentice 
fhall arrive at the Age of Twenty-one Years, according to the Act of Affembly 
in that Cafe made and provided; during all which Time the Faid Apprentice his 
Faid Mafter fhall faithfully ferve in all lawful Bufineff, and orderly and 
obediently in all Things behave himfelf toward his faid Mafter, for and during 
the faid Term, as an Apprentice ought to do.  And The faid John Olliver doth 
covenant, promife and agree, to and with the said Chairman and his succeffors, 
that he the faid John Olliver will provide and allow his faid Apprentice 
convenient and fufficient Meat, Drink, Lodging and Apparel, and ufe his beft 
Endeavours to inftruct him in the Art and Calling of a Cordwainer and alfo 
teach him to read and write before the Expiration of his Apprenticefhip.  IN 
WITNESS whereof the Faid Chairman and the faid John Olliver have hereunto 
interchangeably fet their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year firft above written.
