Johnson of __ County and State of North Carolina, to Wm. H. Myers, John Hughes & W. R. Powell, Public School Committee of District No, 10 1/2, White Bertie County, North Carolina. Witnesseth, that said Marcus Johnson, & wife Ruthia A. in consideration of Five Dollars, to them paid by the said Public School Committee, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, and by these presents do bargain, sell and convey to said Public School Committee, and their successors in office, a tract, or parcel of land in Bertie County, State of North Carolina, adjoining the lands of Marcus Johnson and others, bounded as follows, viz: lying on the road going the old Poor House Road to Tom Cobbs fork on the right hand side. Beginning at a Gum and returning seventy yards South to, a Pine, then at right angles Seventy yards to ___ 2 Pine then, at right angles seventy yards to the Road then, along the road to the Gum, containing one acre, more or less. To have and to Hold, the aforesaid Tract or parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging to the Public School Committee, and their successors in office, to their only use, and behoof. And the said Marcus Johnson & his wife Ruthia A. covenant that they are seized of said premise in fee, and have right convey to the same in fee simple, that the same are free from all incumbrances, and that they will warrant and defend the title to the same, against the claims of all persons whatsoever.
