All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Lynn McCarthy lcmcmw5761@aol.com August 4, 2012, 5:15 pm Written: 1790 Bertie County, NC Deed Book Page 440 John Earley & wife, Jean Earley to George Cowan This Indenture made this sixteenth Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety between John Earley and his wife Jean Earley of the County of Bertie State of North Carolina of the one part and George Cowan of the aforesaid County & State of the other part Witnesseth, that the said John Earley and his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds current money of the aforesaid State have granted Bargained sold aliened and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien and convey unto the said George Cowan his heirs and assigns one certain Tract or parcel of land lying and being in the aforesaid County of Bertie containing two hundred and forty acres be the same more or less, butted and bounded as follows, by a line beginning at a pine on the North side of Redbud Branch Daniel Wynns corner running with Wynns line south one hundred & twenty four poles to a pine Wynns corner in Joseph Collins line thence with Collins line East two hundred & Sixty Eight poles to a pine Collins corner, thence along a line of markd trees to a Black Gum in Redbud Branch Cader Bass corner tree, thence down the said Branch to the first station. To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of Land to him the sd George Cowan his heirs Execrs Admrs & assigns forever, and the said John Earley & his wife for themselves their heirs & assigns do covenant to and with the said George Cowan his heirs & assigns that they will forever warrant and defend the sd Tract or parcel of Land to him the sd George Cowan his heirs Execrs Admrs and assigns against the Legal claim or title of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said John Earley and his wife Jean have hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year above written.
