H. Smith against Mary Eason Homestead & Personal property exemption I, J. A. Green, Deputy Sheriff of Bertie County aforesaid do hereby summon J. B. Ruffin, J. D. Todd, & Wm. B. Cleaton as Appraisers to lay off and assign to the said Mary Eason, her Homestead and Personal Property Exemption, according to an Act of the General Assembly, entitled "An" [Act] "to lay of the Homestead and Personal Property Exemption". This sixteenth day of March 1874. J. A. Green Deputy Sheriff The undersigned, having been duly summoned and sworn to act as Appraisers of the Homestead and Personal Property Exemptions of Mary Eason of Mitchell's Township, Bertie County, by J. A. Green, Deputy Sheriff of said County, in the case of R. H. Smith vs. Mary Eason, do hereby make the following return: We have viewed and appraised the Homestead of the said Mary Eason, one tract of land, and owned by said Mary Eason, One Thousand acres as Homestead, to be worth One Thousand Dollars, and that the tract bounded as follows: Jos. Bryant, Nat. Jernigan, the Solomon Cherry land & others, which is therefore exempted from sale under execution according to law. At the same time and place we viewed and appraised, the value annexed, the following articles of personal property selected by said Mary Eason, One Piano $100. One Sofa $15.00 Two Tables $5.00 12 chairs $6.00 One carpet $13.00 Two Looking Glasses $2.00 One Bed $25.00 One Book Case $2.00 Total amount $69.00 which we declare to be a fair valuation, and that the said articles are exempted under said execution. We hereby certify, that we are not related by blood or marriage to the judgement debtor or the judgement creditor in this execution, and have no interest, near or remote, in the above exemptions. The within named J. B. Ruffin, Wm. B. Cleaton and J. D. Todd were summoned and qualified according to law as the appraisers of the Homestead and Personal Property Exemption of said Mary Eason under an execution in favor of R. H.
